20世纪50年代末期，曾经风靡一时的剧场风云变幻，人们迷恋电视、迷恋摇滚，对于曾经伴随他们长大的各种杂耍则不再关注。他是一个经验丰富的魔术师，舞台上得体从容，现实中却不得不为了可怜的生活费而流转于各个表演场所，上至华贵的音乐厅，下至破落偏僻的小酒馆，不变的是他对魔术的执着。在苏格兰某个乡间逗留时，魔术师结识了一个小女孩，她感叹于那些神奇的魔法，于是偷偷离开故乡，转而追随魔术师的脚步。他们辗转来至爱丁堡，生活变得愈加艰辛，而为了满足女孩对魔法的信任和对繁华世界的向往，魔术师不得不想各种办法去赚钱…… 本片荣获2010年欧洲电影节最佳动画片奖、2010年纽约影评人协会最佳动画片奖。。本片讲述了16世纪莫卧儿王朝第三代君主阿克巴大帝（里提克·罗申 Hrithik Roshan 饰）与妻子拉杰普特族公主珠妲（艾西瓦娅·雷 Aishwarya Rai 饰）之间的爱情故事。 为了建立一个幅员辽阔的帝国，阿克巴大帝一路征战，在征服了兴都库什山脉之后，他将帝国从阿富汗扩张到孟加拉湾，从喜马拉雅山到哥达维利河。作为一个终身信奉伊斯兰教的君主，为了表示他对印度教徒的尊重，阿克巴与印度教拉杰普特族联姻。这赢得了为他效忠的拉杰普特族人的跟随，给了他很大的力量支持，然而拉杰普特族公主珠妲却不甘于成为宗教政治和宫廷争斗中的棋子，深藏怨恨。征战疆场上的阿克巴大帝最终又能否赢得公主珠妲的心，获得真爱。。In this bitingly satirical film Peter Slovan, a continuous source of trouble for the film functionaries of the socialist Slovakia, tackles an evergreen topic – the corruptive effects of power. Barnabáš Kos, a triangle player at a symphonic orchestra, is suddenly promoted to serve as the head of the said institution, even though both he and his superiors deem him completely unfit for the task. Encouraged in equal parts by this unexpected recognition and the servile praise of his colleagues, Kos’s modesty starts to gradually vanish. The erstwhile bashful and aloof percussionist quickly becomes aware of the advantages of his new office, and begins to realise his increasingly ludicrous artistic ambitions. Ultimately, the submissive marionette turns into a source of public humiliation, and his astonishing career finds an abrupt end. Orchestra serves here as a microcosm that grotesquely reflects the absurd and tragicomic mechanisms of the paranoid apparatus of power.
